Cyber Monday Prepaid Plan Deals: What's Actually Worth Grabbing

A prepaid promo is only a deal if it beats what you would pay anyway. Start from the regular price, then check renewals, taxes and the network.

Cyber Monday 2026 is Monday, November 30, four days after Thanksgiving. As of October 30, 2026, Mint Mobile, Visible, US Mobile and Tello had not announced 2026 holiday pricing. This guide gives you the regular prices to measure against and a method for judging any promo when it appears.

Prepaid deals are simpler than postpaid phone deals, but they have their own traps. The most common are an intro price that jumps at renewal, prices shown before taxes, and a cheap plan whose data gets slowed first when the network is busy.

Use effective monthly cost, not the sticker price

Prepaid carriers advertise prices in different ways. Some show a per-month figure for a plan you pay for months in advance. Some include taxes and fees and some do not. Some show an intro price that applies for only part of the term.

The fix is one number: effective monthly cost. Add up everything you will pay over a period, including taxes, fees and any shipping, and divide by the months of service you get.

  1. Pick a comparison period, such as 12 months.
  2. Add the promo price for the months it covers.
  3. Add the renewal price for the rest of the period.
  4. Add taxes and fees if they are not included.
  5. Divide by 12.

A promo that looks cheap for three months can cost more over a year than a plan with no promo at all.

Example using regular prices

These figures use the regular prices we verified on October 30, 2026, not holiday offers.

  • Visible, paid monthly: $25 × 12 = $300 a year, taxes and fees included.
  • Visible, paid annually: $275 a year, about $22.92 a month, taxes and fees included. Paying up front saves $25.
  • Mint Unlimited, 12-month plan: $360 a year, $30 a month before taxes and fees.
  • Mint Unlimited, full-price 3-month plan renewed all year: $40 × 12 = $480 before taxes and fees.

The Mint example shows why term length matters as much as the advertised rate. The same plan costs $120 more over a year if you keep renewing at the 3-month price.

Illustration only. Hypothetical numbers, not a real offer.

Say a carrier advertises an intro rate of $15 a month for 3 months, then $30 a month, with taxes extra. Over 12 months that is $45 + $270 = $315, or $26.25 a month before tax. A competing annual plan at $300 with taxes included is cheaper, even though its headline rate is higher than $15.

Regular prices to measure against

These are the standard prices on each company's official plans page when we checked. They are not holiday deals. Use them as your baseline for judging any Cyber Monday offer.

US Mobile's plans page has an annual toggle that advertises savings, but it did not show annual dollar amounts when we checked, so we have left them out. Tello says its partner agreement does not let it name its network.

Intro pricing that renews higher

Many prepaid "deals" are intro prices for new customers. The question is what you pay once the intro ends.

Mint Mobile

Mint's plans page describes its 3-month rate as a new-customer offer for the first 3 months only, after which full-price plan options apply. As checked Oct 30, 2026, the Unlimited intro was $30 a month, $90 up front. The full 3-month price was $40 a month.

The detail worth noticing: $30 a month is also Mint's regular rate for Unlimited when you buy 12 months. The intro saves you money compared with the 3-month rate, not compared with the annual plan. Mint's help page says auto renewal renews your current plan unless you change it, with a text and email 30 days before.

Tello and US Mobile

Tello's coverage page listed new-customer intro rates beside the regular prices, such as Unlimited at $25 a month after the intro. US Mobile's plans page printed the renewal price next to its intro offers and limited them to port-ins.

That disclosure helps. Use the renewal number, not the intro number, for most of your 12-month calculation.

Watch for

Intro offers that require porting in a number, AutoPay, or a minimum number of lines. If you would not meet those terms anyway, the intro price does not apply to you.

Taxes and fees: included or not

This one line can swing a comparison by a few dollars a month.

  • Visible labels its monthly and annual prices "Taxes & fees included."
  • US Mobile states "Taxes & fees included" on its plan prices.
  • Mint Mobile says "Taxes & fees extra." Its help page lists a Recovery Fee, telecom taxes that depend on your ZIP code, and shipping unless you use eSIM.
  • Tello adds taxes and surcharges at checkout based on your billing address. It offers a "Calculate Taxes" step before you pay.

When one plan includes taxes and another does not, go to checkout on the second plan and get the real total before you compare. Our explainer on activation fees and prorated bills covers other one-time charges to watch for.

Network and priority data

Two plans with the same price and the same "unlimited" label can perform differently on a busy network. The difference is data priority.

  • Visible: The base plan runs on Verizon's 5G and 4G LTE networks, and Visible notes congestion may temporarily slow data. Visible+ and Visible+ Pro use premium data, which Visible says means no slowdowns from prioritization.
  • US Mobile: Unlimited Premium includes "Unlimited priority data." Unlimited Starter lists high-speed data without a priority claim.
  • Tello: Its Unlimited plan includes 35 GB of high-speed data, then slows.
  • Mint Mobile: Runs on T-Mobile's network. Its coverage page did not address prioritization.

If you live or work somewhere crowded, like a downtown core or a stadium, priority data may be worth more than a few dollars off. If coverage is light where you are, a cheap plan on the strongest local network beats a cheap plan on a weak one. Check each carrier's coverage map for your address before you prepay a year.

Which deals are actually worth grabbing

Once Cyber Monday offers go live, run each one through these filters.

How to judge a Cyber Monday prepaid offer
Offer typeWorth it whenSkip it when
Discounted annual planIt beats the regular annual price and you are confident about coverage. You have not tested the network where you live.
Intro months for new customersThe renewal price is still competitive, or you plan to switch again. The renewal rate is much higher than an annual plan.
Port-in only promoYou were going to switch your number anyway. You would have to move a number you depend on mid-contract.
Bonus months or dataThe base price is already one you would pay.The base plan is overpriced before the bonus.
Gift card or prepaid card bonusYou value the card at face value and meet every claim step. The card arrives months later with conditions you might miss.

One rule covers most cases. If a deal's effective monthly cost over 12 months is not lower than the regular annual price on the table above, it is a marketing event, not a saving.

Before you pay for a year up front

  1. Test the network. If the carrier offers a short plan or trial, use it before you prepay 12 months.
  2. Check compatibility. Confirm your phone is unlocked and supported. Our guide to unlocking a phone on any carrier walks through it.
  3. Get your transfer details. Mint, for example, asks for your current account number, number transfer PIN and billing ZIP. Keep your old service active until the transfer finishes.
  4. Read the renewal terms. Note the date and the price you will be charged next, and set a reminder a few days before.
  5. Read the refund policy. Know what happens if the service does not work for you after you have paid for a year.
  6. Screenshot the offer. Save the terms and the order total in case a promised discount does not appear.
